Have gavel will travel !
I’m based in Jersey but regularly travel throughout the Islands and the UK. My considerable expertise is sought because, whether your event is a grand formal occasion or a small informal party, a professional guiding hand is essential for complete success.
As a Toastmaster, I don’t only make toasts, as you will find as you browse my site. I’m a fully qualified Member of the Northern Guild of Toastmasters, and a Graduate of the Thomas School of British Butlers, so I can assure you that my presence will transform a good occasion into great one.
The Toastmaster is a typically British institution, who’s origins are lost in the mists of time but there can be little doubt that early duties involved toast making (maybe both sorts!).
Our skills have dramatically increased since those early days. Not only are we trained in etiquette but in the organisation and running of any type of event.
The Guilds have been a logical development and are formed by the craftsmen dedicated to promoting excellence.
My home county is Cheshire, which is why I’m a Member of the Northern Guild of Toastmasters. They are one of the truly professional bodies and consist of some 50 members, spread across the British Isles. We meet regularly to discuss the ever-changing requirements of the modern era, while still maintaining our traditions.
Here are a few of us in Blackpool, attending the 25th Anniversary Ball. The President appointed me Toastmaster, to toastmaster the toastmasters!
Full Guild Membership is greatly prized and is awarded for a combination of competence, qualification and experience.
You can have confidence in a Toastmaster who wears the Collarette.
A Toastmaster is the key to success and ensures that your day goes just the way you want it to, without anyone having to worry about the detail. I will guide you with just the right balance of dignity and humour. All fears of speech-making will be dispelled by my gentle instruction and simple rules of who says what and when.

On the day, my appearance will remind the family that they have a friend who is in control, ensuring that everyone is in the right place at the right time.
The red tailcoat always impresses and shows that you have everything well organised. Whether 30 or 600 guests, everyone will warm to my relaxed approach as I co-ordinate the activities and provide a focal point for help and advice.
There will be nothing for you to do except relax and enjoy each precious moment.
All the answers
My attention to detail is unrivalled, so you will have complete peace of mind as I guide you through every stage of planning and preparation, as well as the day itself.
It is often difficult to know where to begin but by bringing me in at an early stage, I can start the ball rolling for you.
In the first instance, I supply you with my unique information leaflets. We will then have a meeting to discuss all aspects, when I explain the traditions and offer advice on what works best. Most people are quite surprised and pleased that I highlight areas where important decisions have to be made.
I provide all the speakers with their own guide and offer good humoured advice along the way. I guarantee success!
I will announce all the speeches but no one will have cause for concern as every aspect will have been discussed and sorted well beforehand.
If the best man wishes to play a more active role, then I defer to him and help in whatever capacity he requires.
Other service providers
The selection of the right one for you is vital and by the nature of my job, I am one of the best people to give you impartial recommendations. From wedding planners to portable loos, I can give you all the inside information… who is the best, and (heaven forbid), who you should avoid.
In a nutshell
Every event is unique and your own particular requirements are welcomed. I discuss every detail with you well before and produce a schedule/running order for your approval.
This will enable me to ensure complete success on the day.
Whatever the function, I will have a sympathetic presence that the guests will warm to, as I co-ordinate the activities and provide a focal point for help and advice.
Another Collarette !
I had the honour of being appointed Chevallier d’Honour by Antoine Roland Billecart, of Billecart-Salmon Champagne, Acting Commandeur, L’Ordre des Coteaux de Champagne, Consulate de Jersey.
The Grand Occasion
With a large guest list, Orders of Precedence become an important aspect and as a qualified toastmaster, I will ensure correct procedure, particularly when dignitaries are present.
My red tailcoat will impress everyone as I meet and greet.
The dinner call will be made, the top table announced and seated.
Grace, the Loyal Toast and the speakers will all be introduced at the correct time with appropriate preamble.
The organisation of raffle draws, prize-giving and presenting the entertainment are all part of my duties as a well-versed Master of Ceremonies.
I offer my services to a number of charities. Here, I was obviously typecast for Movember.
I am also an Independent Celebrant and can help you to celebrate your Special Occasion, with the style and content of your choice. Whether your ceremony is to be small and select or a full traditional family gathering, the whole event will be specially designed to suit you.
With your help, I will write a personalised introduction and create a structure that can incorporate your own poetry, prose and music.
As an ‘Independent’ I am not restricted by the usual rules and regulations but must, of course, adhere to the law. I will gently guide you through any legal requirements.
