About Ian
Hello! My passion for caring for the needs of others has been underpinned by my being fortunate enough to have traveled the world as a hotel manager on cruise ships for over thirty years. In this unique environment, I have encountered many situations that have equipped me to deal respectfully, caringly, and professionally with all manner of people, across all cultures, nationalities, and beliefs. I’m certainly a ‘people person’!
After ‘swallowing the anchor’, and coming ashore, I utilised and extended my experience to study for the NOCN Certificate in Civil Celebrancy in the UK with the Fellowship of Independent Celebrants. I then went on to complete a course of training and examination with the UK School of Professional Toastmasters. Having lived in Chester for over twenty-five years, and hailing originally from the Isle of Man, I am particularly honoured to have been accepted into the Northern Guild of Toastmasters to put my experience to good use throughout the whole north west of England and north Wales.
Prior to a life on the ocean wave, I studied Music, Drama and Psychology at degree level and have maintained a keen interest in all things musical and theatrical. I have found that drawing on this background is extremely useful in my toastmaster role!
My personality and experience mean that you can be assured of a good-humoured professional attitude and approach, attention to detail, exceptional organisational skills and a genuine, personable, commitment to you so that you can be as worry-free as your occasion
The Role
In my role as a trained professional toastmaster, I am dedicated to ensuring that everything that has been planned goes exactly as it should do, and also to bring an element of class and distinction to any occasion. I am your ‘personal event manager’!
